I am an architect by day and an artist by night, sort of like Clark Kent only I do not wear a cape when I am working in my studio, although that's not a bad idea.
I've always worked on art projects in my spare time, but my cartooning career began as a joke at my day job. That was during the great economic downturn. Being an architect, there was not much work and I landed a contract job. My co-contract workers and I were lamenting the state of affairs when Architect Barbie reared her plastic head. I thought Architect Barbie was extremely stupid as there was not much work, especially for architects. Barbie could do better and it seemed more appropriate that maybe Recession Barbie should have been introduced instead. So I sent cartoons around to my co-workers with Recession Barbie.
Recession Barbie took on a life of her own as the jokes and cartoons kept coming. I kept thinking of other jokes and developed more characters and story lines. I had so many ideas and so much fun, I just never quit writing. That's when I decided to complete a full book.
I researched all the typical topics on how to get an agent, how to get published, copyrights, etc. After all the research I came to the conclusion that I would go ahead and self publish. Not only that, I would set up my own publishing company. There are advantages to setting up a publishing company. It would allow me to publish as many times as I want to and all the mechanisms would already be in place for each time I publish a work. Having my own publishing company also allows me to publish the works of others - if it ever gets to that point and it may - I am not ruling it out.
Snoring Clown Publications started with 1 book, Anytown, which is still available here on this site. I truly enjoyed writing and illustrating my first book, I kept on writing and creating. I just completed a coloring book #WEIRDQUARANTINETREES that is also available now. Anytown: Volume 2 is in the works and is planned to be released in 2021, unless I die before I finish. Keep your fingers crossed and I'll be careful crossing the street.
I continue to work on independent works of art, some are available for purchase. Please see my shop for available works. Lately I have been drawings just so, so many trees.... If you like my work, you should check back periodically for new things. I am always working on new things.
Hoser wants to answer your questions about publishing, design decisions, writing ideas and more....
No! That's a lie, I just like to talk and tell people things that are on my mind. I was posting regularly, but have slowed down to not so much recently. I was struggling keeping up the blog and working on new works. It's not over though! I'll be back because I still have things to say.
You can still read my previous posts because I haven't changed my mind.
That's right, be friends with Mary Leona, better known as Sister Mary Leona, and get updates on events, merchandise and more.
