I am an architect by day and cartoonist by night, sort of like Clark Kent only I do not wear a cape when I am drawing cartoons, although that's not a bad idea.
My cartooning career began as a joke at work. That was during the great economic downturn. Being an architect, there was not much work and I landed a contract job. My co-contract workers and I were lamenting the state of affairs when Architect Barbie was introduced to the world. I thought that was extremely stupid as there was not much work. Barbie could do better and it seemed more appropriate that maybe Recession Barbie should have been introduced instead. So I sent cartoons around to my co-workers with Recession Barbie. She's in the book by the way.
Recession Barbie took on a life of her own as the jokes and cartoons kept coming. Then I started thinking of other jokes and developed more characters and story lines. I had so many ideas and so much fun, I just never quit writing. That's when I decided to write a book.
My original goal while writing Anytown was to write 100 pages. I ended this book at 146 pages and have a stack of ideas to still craft into stories and jokes. It is a fair assumption that there will be at least one more book after this, unless I die before I finish. Keep your fingers crossed and I'll be careful crossing the street.
I truly enjoyed writing and illustrating this book. I hope you check it out and enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Thank you.
